Sample Answer

If I were to recount a traditional story that has left an indelible mark on my consciousness, it would undoubtedly be the legend of "The Starfruit Tree," or Cây khế in Vietnamese. It’s a classic folktale that I believe captures the very ethos of our culture, centered around the concepts of retribution and moral virtue.

I first became acquainted with this story when I was just a young child, as it was a staple of my grandmother’s bedtime storytelling routine. She was a master storyteller who could transform simple words into vivid imagery, making every moral lesson feel deeply personal. She would sit by my side, with her voice softening and strengthening at all the right moments, ensuring that the characters' struggles felt real to me.

When I first heard the story, my emotions were quite volatile. I felt an intense sense of injustice on behalf of the younger brother, who was forced to live in a cramped hut after being cheated by his avaricious older sibling. Conversely, the greedy brother’s ultimate demise left me feeling a sense of profound satisfaction, which, as a child, was my naive way of understanding "justice." As I’ve matured, my perspective has evolved; I now appreciate the story not just as a cautionary tale about greed, but as a poignant reflection on the importance of leading an honest life. It serves as a reminder that while the path of integrity may seem difficult, it is ultimately the only one that leads to true prosperity.

In my view, a captivating storyline is the paramount element of any successful movie, acting as the very backbone that holds the entire production together. Many modern tales incorporate more complex themes to help young readers grasp the nuances of life, rather than just sugar-coating reality. For instance, many fables include scenes of moral struggle or temporary loss before the final resolution, which encourages children to develop emotional resilience. By moving beyond simplistic endings, these stories better prepare children to comprehend life's inherent complexities.

4. Why do most children like listening to stories before bedtime?

The primary reason children adore bedtime stories is that they provide a soothing, predictable ritual that signals the end of the day. The comforting sound of a parent's voice, combined with an engaging narrative, creates a tranquil atmosphere that helps children feel secure.
