Describe a trip by public transport
Suggested answer
Today I would like to tell you about my most recent trip with five of my best friends by public transport, which was very joyful. This was the trip to Hue, a beautiful ancient city which is located in the Central Part of Vietnam.
We all got itchy feet so we all wanted to go on a trip together. One month before the trip, we decided to travel by train. We knew that going by coach was much faster and more economical but we wanted to spend good time together and admire beautiful scenery on the way.
It was a 12-hour trip, which was a very long journey but to our surprise, we weren’t tired at all but felt excited about the upcoming activities that we would do in Hue.
When we got on the train, we were impressed by the convenience of the cabin. The cabin looked like a small private room and it was decorated with paintings. There were three berths covered in leather and an overhead compartment for luggage. In addition, the cabin was also well-equipped with air-conditioner, free wifi connection and there were even snacks in case we got hungry.
The trip helped us to strengthen our bonds. We spent time playing cards or monopoly on the train to kill time. We also had the opportunities to view the stunning scenery such as rivers or green paddy fields.
I would recommend anyone to travel far with a group of friends and go by train! It will be fun!

Describe a bicycle/motorcycle/car trip you would like to go
- Who you would like to go with
- Where you would like to go
- When you would like to go
- And explain why you would like to go by bicycle/motorcycle/car
Sample Answer
If I were to plan a dream getaway, it would definitely be a motorcycle road trip along the picturesque coastline of Central Vietnam. I’ve always been captivated by the idea of a nomadic journey, and I’d love to experience this with my best friend.
Our itinerary would ideally start in Da Nang. From there, we would ride North towards the legendary Hai Van Pass. I’ve seen countless photos of its winding roads and misty peaks, but I believe experiencing it on two wheels would be a whole different level of excitement. We would eventually wind up in Hue to enjoy some traditional cuisine.
I’m aiming to do this during the early summer. The bright sunshine would make the coastal scenery look even more vibrant, and the dry roads would ensure a safer ride.
The reason I’d choose a motorcycle over a car or a bicycle is the sheer flexibility it provides. A car feels too enclosed, almost like a cage that separates you from the environment. On a motorcycle, you are part of the landscape. You can smell the salt in the air and feel the exhilarating rush of the wind. Moreover, it allows us to explore narrow paths and secluded spots that are inaccessible to larger vehicles.
Ultimately, this trip would be a much-needed rejuvenation for my soul. It’s a chance to disconnect from digital screens and reconnect with the natural world in the most authentic way possible.

Speaking Part 3 Vehicle Trip
1. What do you think of the future of electric cars?
In my view, electric vehicles are undoubtedly poised to become the dominant mode of transport in the near future. This transition is primarily driven by a global commitment to sustainability and significant breakthroughs in battery efficiency, which have mitigated 'range anxiety' for many drivers. For instance, several European countries have already legislated deadlines to phase out internal combustion engines entirely within the next decade. Consequently, this shift will not only lead to a substantial reduction in our carbon footprint but also trigger a complete overhaul of global energy infrastructure.
| dominant mode of transport | /dəˈmɪnənt məʊd əv ˈtrænspɔːt/ | phrase | phương thức vận tải chủ đạo |
| sustainability | /səˌsteɪnəˈbɪləti/ | n | sự bền vững |
| internal combustion engine | /ɪnˌtɜːnl kəmˈbʌstʃən ˈendʒɪn/ | phrase | động cơ đốt trong |

| range anxiety | /reɪndʒ æŋˈzaɪəti/ | phrase | tâm lý lo sợ hết pin giữa đường |
2. Why do more people own and drive private cars now?
The rising trend in private car ownership can be attributed to the pursuit of personal autonomy and unparalleled convenience. Despite improvements in public transport, many people still find that buses or trains lack the flexibility required for modern, fast-paced lifestyles. For example, a car enables 'trip chaining,' such as commuting to work while running errands or dropping children off at school, which would be incredibly cumbersome using public transit. While this mobility offers personal freedom, the unintended consequence is the worsening of urban congestion and air quality in metropolitan areas.

3. How are the transportation systems in urban areas and rural areas different?
The fundamental difference between urban and rural transportation lies in the density of infrastructure and the frequency of service. Urban centers typically enjoy a multi-modal network of subways, buses, and ride-sharing services that operate around the clock. In stark contrast, rural areas often face 'transport poverty,' where public options are sporadic at best. For instance, while a city dweller can rely on a train every few minutes, a villager might only have access to a single bus route that runs twice daily. As a result, owning a private vehicle becomes an absolute necessity for those living in the periphery to maintain their livelihood.
| density of infrastructure | /ˈdensəti əv ˈɪnfrəstrʌktʃə/ | phrase | mật độ cơ sở hạ tầng |
| sporadic | /spəˈrædɪk/ | adj | rời rạc, thỉnh thoảng mới có |
| absolute necessity | /ˈæbsəluːt nəˈsesəti/ | phrase | sự hiện diện tất yếu, bắt buộc |
| transport poverty | /ˈtrænspɔːt ˈpɒvəti/ | phrase | tình trạng thiếu hụt phương tiện đi lại |
| periphery | /pəˈrɪfəri/ | n | vùng ngoại vi, vùng ven |
4. Do you think people need to change the way of transportation drastically to protect the environment?
I am firmly of the opinion that a radical paradigm shift in our transportation habits is imperative if we are to seriously address environmental degradation. Incremental improvements, such as slightly more fuel-efficient cars, are simply insufficient to offset the sheer volume of global emissions. A prime example of a drastic change would be the adoption of the '15-minute city' model, which prioritizes active transport like cycling over car usage. By redesigning our lives around these greener alternatives, we can significantly curtail greenhouse gas emissions and foster more sustainable urban living environments.
5. Do you think air pollution comes mostly from mobile vehicles?
While mobile vehicles are undoubtedly a primary contributor to poor air quality, I believe it would be an oversimplification to say they are the only culprit. Industrial emissions and large-scale energy production are equally significant factors in the degradation of the atmosphere. For instance, in many industrialized regions, the smog produced by coal-fired power plants often rivals the tailpipe emissions from heavy traffic. Consequently, if we want to tackle air pollution effectively, our strategies must be comprehensive and address both vehicular exhaust and industrial smoke stacks."
| primary contributor | /ˈpraɪməri kənˈtrɪbjətə/ | phrase | tác nhân đóng góp chính |
| tailpipe emissions | /ˈteɪlpaɪp ɪˈmɪʃnz/ | phrase | khí thải từ ống xả |
| comprehensive | /ˌkɒmprɪˈhensɪv/ | adj | toàn diện, bao quát |
| industrial emissions | /ɪnˈdʌstriəl ɪˈmɪʃnz/ | phrase | khí thải công nghiệp |
| oversimplification | /ˌəʊvəsɪmplɪfɪˈkeɪʃn/ | n | sự đơn giản hóa quá mức |
6. Which form of vehicle is more popular in your country, bikes, cars or motorcycles?
In the context of my country, motorcycles remain the undisputed king of the road. Their popularity stems from their sheer affordability and their incredible maneuverability, which is essential for navigating narrow alleys and congested urban arteries. For example, during peak hours in Ho Chi Minh City, motorbikes are the only vehicles capable of weaving through gridlocked traffic effectively. This has led to a deeply ingrained motorcycle culture; however, it also presents ongoing challenges for authorities in terms of managing road safety and reducing noise pollution.
| undisputed king | /ˌʌndɪˈspjuːtɪd kɪŋ/ | phrase | ông vua không thể bàn cãi (vị trí dẫn đầu) |
| maneuverability | /məˌnuːvrəˈbɪləti/ | n | khả năng luồn lách, điều khiển linh hoạt |
| urban arteries | /ˈɜːbən ˈɑːtəriz/ | phrase | các tuyến đường huyết mạch đô thị |
