Speaking Part 2 Sample
Describe an interesting animal
You should say about:
- What animal it is;
- What features it has;
- Why you find it interesting;
And explain how you feel about it.
Suggested answer
To talk about an interesting animal, the first thing that comes to my mind is the sloth. Sloths are tropical mammals that live in South America. Sloths have short, flat heads, big eyes; short snouts, long legs, and tiny ears. Some species have stubby tails. Altogether, sloths' bodies are usually between 50 and 60 cm long. Sloths are portrayed as hilariously slow in Disney’s latest movie ‘Zootopia’ - a smash hit internationally, as it appealed to all age groups. And also thanks to that movie, I came to know this animal.
Besides, they are experts in playing cute. I think that's probably the reason why so many people like sloths, including me.
And after reading a few articles about sloths, What strikes me the most is that sloths are ‘vegans’, they eat leaves, flower petals and other plant products. They use their long claws to hang onto branches while they feast on the leaves that other animals can't reach. And surprisingly, they are strong swimmers. They will sometimes drop down from their treetop perches into water and use their extended arms to propel through the water.
They are herbivores. They can be compared to koala bears in some ways, as they are both considered to be bone idle.
So I think it’s a really interesting animal and I hope to see it in the flesh one day.

(Intro) To tell you the truth, I am a real nature geek, and I enjoy any time when I can be in the wild. That said, in order to be safe, we should just go to a secured zone like to the zoo or a safari park. I will share with you about a trip I had to a wildlife park called Vinpearl Safari which is genuinely a eye-opener to me
(Story) This park is located in Phu Quoc island, which is a beautiful and renowned tourist destination, located in the south of Vietnam. I went there around 2 years ago with my dude and as a nature lover, I put the safari trip on the top of my list. I had been watching loads of videos about some baby alpacas scampering around and I could not wat to come there to these adorable friends in the flesh
(Opinion) When I first entered the park, I was hooked by how massive it was. Then I saw a big board displaying the map of the home of many species living there, and suggested routes for visitors for their trip. I decided to take a bus to the zone near the edge of the island to see my favorite alpacas. Along the way, I also saw a group of rhinos grazing grass on the side of the road. It looked really peaceful. They were playful, rolling in dust and shaking their heads when they were fed by some children visitors.
The scenery there was so stunning that I can still remember it vividly. I had a truly rewarding experience with those fun animals in Vinpearl Phu Quoc.

Describe a story you know that involves an animal (like in a movie or a book)
You should say:
- What the movie or book is about
- When and where you watched it
- Are there any other animals in the movie or book
And explain how you felt about this movie or book
I’d like to talk about a movie called The Lion King, which is an animated film featuring a lot of animals. I watched this movie for the first time when I was a child, probably at home with my family during the weekend. Even though it was a children’s movie, I think it contains many meaningful lessons about life, responsibility, and personal growth.
The movie is about a young lion named Simba, who is the son of the king of the Pride Lands. After losing his father in a tragic accident, Simba runs away because he feels guilty and believes he cannot face his responsibilities. However, as he grows older, he learns to overcome his fears, return to his homeland, and take his rightful place as a leader.
Besides lions, there are many other animals in the movie, such as meerkats, warthogs, birds, and hyenas. Each character has a different personality and plays an important role in developing the story. For example, Timon and Pumbaa, a meerkat and a warthog, help Simba get through difficult times and teach him to enjoy life.
What I found most interesting about this movie was how it used animals to represent human emotions and relationships. The story was entertaining, but it also carried a deeper message about courage, friendship, and finding your own identity. The characters really came to life through the storytelling, which made the movie much more memorable.
I felt deeply connected to this movie because it was not just an entertaining film but also something that taught me valuable lessons. Even now, when I think about The Lion King, it still brings back fond memories of my childhood. I believe it is a timeless story because people of different ages can take away something meaningful from it.

Speaking Part 3 Sample
1. Why do children enjoy stories about animals?
I think children enjoy animal stories because animals are often presented as interesting and relatable characters. Unlike ordinary stories, animal characters can have human-like personalities, which makes it easier for children to connect with them emotionally. In addition, these stories usually contain simple but meaningful messages about friendship, kindness, and courage. Many animal stories can capture children’s imagination and encourage them to explore the world around them. Another reason is that animals are naturally attractive to children because they are curious about different creatures and their behaviours. Therefore, animal stories are not only entertaining but also help children develop their understanding of emotions and relationships.
| relatable characters | /rɪˈleɪtəbl ˈkærəktəz/ | n phr | nhân vật gần gũi, dễ đồng cảm |
| human-like personalities | /ˈhjuːmən laɪk ˌpɜːsəˈnælətiz/ | n phr | tính cách giống con người |

| meaningful messages | /ˈmiːnɪŋfl ˈmesɪdʒɪz/ | n phr | những thông điệp ý nghĩa |
2. What can people learn from animal stories?
Animal stories can teach people many valuable lessons, especially about human behaviour and relationships. Although the characters are animals, they often represent different types of people and situations in real life. Through these stories, readers can learn about values such as honesty, responsibility, and compassion. For example, a story about a loyal dog may teach children the importance of friendship and trust. Besides that, animal stories can also raise awareness of environmental issues by showing the importance of protecting wildlife and respecting nature. In my opinion, the greatest value of animal stories is that they deliver important lessons in an enjoyable and memorable way.
| valuable lessons | /ˈvæljuəbl ˈlesnz/ | n phr | những bài học giá trị |

3. Do films influence how people view animals?
Yes, I believe films have a significant influence on the way people perceive animals. Movies often create emotional connections between audiences and animal characters, which can change the way people think about certain species. For example, documentaries about endangered animals can encourage viewers to develop greater appreciation for wildlife and become more aware of conservation issues. On the other hand, fictional films may sometimes create unrealistic images of animals, making people misunderstand their real behaviours. Therefore, while films can be a powerful tool for education, viewers should also look for accurate information from reliable sources.
| have a significant influence on | /hæv ə sɪɡˈnɪfɪkənt ˈɪnfluəns ɒn/ | phrase | có ảnh hưởng đáng kể đến |

| conservation issues | /ˌkɒnsəˈveɪʃn ˈɪʃuːz/ | n phr | các vấn đề bảo tồn |
4. Why are animals often used in stories?
I think animals are frequently used in stories because they can represent human characteristics in a simple and creative way. Writers often use animals as symbols to express ideas about society, emotions, and morality without directly talking about people. For example, a clever fox may represent intelligence, while a brave lion can symbolize courage. Using animals also makes stories more appealing to children because these characters are easier to remember and imagine. Furthermore, animal characters can make complex ideas easier to understand by presenting them through simple situations. Therefore, animals are popular storytelling tools because they combine entertainment with meaningful messages.

Yes, I think children should learn about animals at school because it can help them develop scientific knowledge and a sense of responsibility towards nature. Learning about animals allows students to understand biodiversity and the importance of protecting different species. Schools can provide opportunities for students to gain practical knowledge through observation and activities such as visiting zoos or studying local wildlife. 6. Do people care more about animal welfare nowadays?
Yes, I think people are becoming more concerned about animal welfare compared to the past. One reason is that information about animal protection is now more widely available through social media and documentaries. As a result, more people are aware of issues such as animal cruelty and the importance of treating animals responsibly. Many individuals are also choosing products and lifestyles that support ethical treatment of animals. However, I think there is still a gap between awareness and action because some people continue to prioritize convenience or economic benefits over animal protection. Overall, public concern for animal welfare has increased, but more efforts are still needed to create meaningful changes.
